I bought Marisa's book from Amazon after seeing her on supersize versus super skinny. I was expecting to just browse through it and hope as i always have with a diet book that i have found a miracle cure! Well, guess what? That is exactly what happened. The book is so informative and interesting and completely different from any other diet book i have ever read. I went to her seminar in London last Friday and was captivated by everything that happened. After first reading her book, coincidently i went to hospital for a check up on my breasts as they were very sore for 10 days at a time before a period. the consultant immediately told me to cut out dairy completely as the growth hormones in the milk are incredibly bad for breasts! they ended up finding two areas of cancer which have now been removed and they have told me never to have dairy again. All the literature i have read since then has confirmed exactly what Marisa has said in the book about the rubbish we eat and what is good for our bodies and what is harmful. I recommend that anyone who has had an ongoing weight problem such as i have then please go and buy the book. If you are able to attend one of the seminars then i would highly recommend you do so. It was such an eye opening afternoon, and hugely enjoyable, which ended with a half hour group hypnotherapy session. I would happily attend another one any time as i found it so enthralling and inspiring. If you are unable to get to a seminar then at the very least i highly recommend you buy the book. It will be the best, and last diet/weight loss book you will ever need!! Jeanette

I attended the same seminar as Jeanette in London last Saturday and it was brilliant! It underlined all I had read in the book and listened to on the cd that comes free with it. I am 56 years old and have struggled with being overweight all of my life. I was one of these fat children who became a fat teenager then carried on to be a fat adult! I was hospitalised at 15 with weight issues and was told I was just one of those people who would always have to watch what they eat. Well I didn't watch what I ate and eventually got to an all time high of 27 and a half stone. I have type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and arthritis, all attributed to being obese.I have tried every diet and very weight loss pill ever invented with little success. I read about Marisa's book when it was recommended by someone on the Weight Watchers message boards. I bought it and have never looked back!! Everything just clicked into place with me almost instantly!! I have not touched wheat, cereal or dairy in any shape or form since I read the book and listened to the cd, even the ice cream that I gorged myself on every day will never pass my lips again. I am amazing myself every day by how easy it is to do this and have already halved my insulin dosage!! I have now discarded 60 lbs since January thanks to Marisa, and although I have a lot more weight to get rid of, I know I will do it. I am booked in to have a gastric bypass in July but I am not going to have it, the surgeon told me I have to have it or I will be dead in 10 years. I don't need it now because I am shedding weight regularly each weeek and I know I can do this! I now have the key to success and the belief in my ability to rid myself of this fat that has blighted my life for so long. How I wish I had had something like this to help me 45 years ago and my life would have been so different and I would have been so much fitter. Thankyou Marisa, I owe you a lot!!

Hi Eileen it was great to attend the seminar with you last Saturday (Not Friday as i had previously said!). You and your friend were really lovely and i was so impressed by your story and weight loss. I would love to know how much more weight you get rid of, and also how your friend gets on. Jeanette x

I bought Marisa's book from Amazon in February and have not looked back. I have always struggled with my weight and although have never been obese i have never been comfortable with my dress size. Now I am loose size 12 and have shed one & half stones. The amazing thing about this way of life is that it is so easy and no effort is needed once you have read the book and listened to the Cd. I went to Marisa's seminar in March just for more inspiration as I was so thrilled with the book and I was delighted to see Marisa in person. Each step of my life since February has been challenged with new events and things which made me wonder if I could continue to shed the weight and keep it off. I am happy to confirm that parties, holiday, weekends away have all been easily adapted with my new eating style and I can now say that overearting is something that I wil never do. I recomend this book to everybody that is amazed at how good I look and cannot thank Marisa enough for showing me a new path which is forever a trully amazing breakthough.

I am happy to speak to anybody who needs inspiration as I trully believe that anybody can be thin!
Warmest Regards Josy

I attended Marisa's seminar in London this Saturday and it really re-inforced everything I have learned from the book and CD. It was also brilliant to hear your stories Jeanette and Eileen and to meet and listen to Marisa. What I find amazing is that after 20 years of dieting, battling, depriving, giving in, forbidden foods, and constant and sudden hunger lows satiated by something sugary or carb heavy, since starting Marisa's program something has clicked. I have done it for 2 weeks and it is easy. I am eating like a grown up for the first time in my life. I'm eating more healthily than I have ever eaten, I am choosing to do this so nothing is banned and I don't feel deprived or resentful. I don't wake up with a headache anymore - which in hindsight may well have been a sugar hangover from the previous evening. And once I've finished eating I don't think about food for a long long time whereas previously I thought about food and weight several times an hour. I wish I had known about this progam years ago. I have dropped 7lb in 2 weeks, and I feel so empowered.
Thank you Marisa, you have changed a very painful relationship with my body and food - I never dreamed that would be possible.

I had a private session with Marissa about six weeks ago. Through hypnosis I learned that I was over eating to fill an emotional void. I discovered through this session that as a child I spent a lot of time alone which translated to feelings of never feeling I was “enough” to my parents. Whether it was true or not, I internalized their frequent absences with feelings of not being worthy of their love. I must admit it was the saddest realization I've ever had. It's still sinking in. That session combined with listening to the CD and reading the book has made a dramatic change in my eating habits. I have cut out wheat and diary and find the emptiness I used to feel without these foods is now gone. I have also been exercising regularly. So far I have lost about eight pounds and my fitness level has soared. I still find sweets a challenge and I love a glass of wine. If I could cut those out I know I would easily have already lost 15 pounds by now. In many ways I still don't trust myself and feel like somehow my old ways of comfort eating are going to come back (like they have when I've lost weight in the past). I want this lifestyle to be for good but at times feel very weak to temptations like sweets. I would love to know how to overcome this. Thank you Marissa for the best diet book I have ever read and for your gift to help people. Everyone's stories are so inspiring! Thank you for sharing them.

I was there on Saturday as well and had a fantastic time.
To meet so many people, so many different sizes yet all with the same problem was enlightening.
Marissa is so 'down to earth' she appreciates what we are going through as she has done the same herself.
Although I am one of those people that needs more time to take on board all that the book and cd suggest, I have made great changes to my life.
I had read the book and listened to the cd once only and changes started to happen.
Since being back home I have convinced my Mother (78 years) that milk is not what it is cracked up to be. I told her what was in cows milk and she could not face drinking any more, she is now drinking goats milk.
I have astounded my husband and sons with the resitance tests and they all are beginning to alter certain aspects of their diet.
So Marissa, not only have I a lot to thank you for but my family also thank you.

Dear Finley, and anyone else craving sweets it really is worth taking supplements of 5htp ,
B complex, B6 and B3 as they increase your serotonin levels which in turn stop you craving sugar.
the longer you stay off sugar the less you crave it until you stop wanting it at all. Also cinnamon (half a teaspoon daily and zinc (found in prawns and almonds) lessen sugar cravings. If you break a 500mg capsule of L-glutamine onto your tongue when you crave sugar it can stop the craving in seconds
hope that helps

So far I have bought Marisa's book for 3 friends, bullied someone into attending the next London seminar and start most food related sentences with "Marisa says..."!! And it feels great!

Thanks to Marsia this is the first time I've felt in control of food and I am 150% confident that I can and will be slim (I've already bought jeans in a smaller size!). The book, cd and seminar have changed my life. Just from listening to other people's stories I know Marisa has worked wonders with many people and I am so looking forward to being another one of her successes.

Well done and good luck to all those I met at Saturday's seminar and to everybody else who has embraced their new selves. We're worth it!!

Hi to Marisa and all,

After reading so many wonderful comments, I have gone out and bought the book. So far it is FANTASTIC, but I still have a long way to go to till I finish. I'm hoping it does for me what it has for all of you. I suffer with depression and BDD and I know that my weight is a massive contibutor to both. Marisa Thank You for bringing us a no nonsense book, that is not designed to make us feel like morons! I have a feeling this is it for me, much like everyone else who has read it. Please keep it up and keep this blog going. All the best to all of you...

Hello Jeanette, we will keep in touch via this forum then because Tina and I were commenting on how good you looked...in fact Tina picked you out as the one she would LOVE to look like!! I want to wear those white skinny trousers that Marisa wore!! lol To do that I still have to shed about another 150 lbs but with small goals of each stone barrier I know I can do this. When you said you had been advised to keep off dairy, it all makes so much sense now and the thought of drinking milk or eating anything it contains ever again just makes me heave!!! As well as weighing 60 lbs less I just feel so much better already, no bloating,no acid reflux and no belching from both ends!! lol Work colleagues and friends are starting to comment on how well I look. I wish I could turn the clock back and start again but that can't happen...what I can do though is to improve my quality of life from now on and that is exactly what I am doing with Marisa's help. I have never felt to motivated and determined to do this! Thanks for your support too! We might meet again at another conference?

Hi everyone
I attended the seminar in Cambridge on April 19 and would like to say hello to the other ladies, particularly the two I sat with at the back of the room (sorry can’t remember your names). I bought the book and finished it about 8 weeks ago and then attended the seminar shortly after. It’s been success all the way for me and I think my biggest achievement is being so relaxed about food. Amazingly I can now go for hours without even thinking about it – how many years has it been since that last happened. So far I have shed 13 lbs and can’t wait for the stone marker. I feel happy, confident and so much better in my clothes. It is, of course, going to cost a fortune replacing all of my clothes – hey ho.
I have replaced cow’s products with goat’s as I have not yet found a dairy alternative that goes well in hot drinks. I still feel a bit uncertain about this although I have done a lot of reading and it appears to be OK and I am careful to buy just the St Helens Farm stuff as the animals are treated well – this is important to me being a veggie.
I have had no cravings, but the other night I wanted to see how I felt allowing myself to have something sweet. I had a small piece of crispy choc stuff – and just like Marissa says I was indifferent, no particular enjoyment there at all. In fact tonight I can’t wait to have my lovely, colourful, delicious fruit salad.
This forum is brill and I look forward to hearing everyone’s success stories.

After watching Marisa on Supersize V Superskinny, I jumped straight on to the net and got researching; I had just found the person who was going to change my life! After undergoing a private session with Marisa, my mind was buzzing and I actually did not sleep that night as I really couldn't stop thinking about the new me. That was 7 weeks ago and I have already shed 15 pounds. I have eliminated wheat and Dairy products from my diet and felt a huge difference from day 1. My periods were terrible from a young age and since eliminating the dairy, I have noticed a significant difference and with my mood too. My friends and family are complimenting me and I feel fabulous, I really can't explain it, but like Finley, I too am craving sugar and have sought out wheat and dairy free cakes but haven't bought them thankfully (just looking), and will definitely try the cinnamon as advised by Maria. Finally, I would just like to say, Marisa, the book is fantastic! I am positive, I have gained confidence and anyone who is unsure, I can only assure you this new lifestyle will change your life for the better!

A big thank you to you Marisa. I attended your Cambridge seminar. You have changed my whole world and food no longer governs my life. In the past 3 weeks I have shed a whole stone. Yes a whole stone!!! My shopping is now so healthy. The best tip is always take food with you. Do not leave the house without fruit or some nuts. A life saver when there is nothing else to eat. I never thought I would stop eating cereals, just does not bother me. My family and friends are amazed. I have bought them all a book to read and my sister has just cut out bread and has already lost 3 lbs. I don't know how I can ever thank you. I am struggling for some family meal alternatives if anyone has any suggestions???

Hi Eileen and Tina thank you both so much for the lovely compliments. I cant believe what you said!! I too would love to wear Marisa's Jeans!! She looked fantastic and clearly practises what she preaches! You are doing so well and are so motivated your family and friends must be so proud of you. I truly believe that now we have the tools provided and the support of Marisa and the blog that all of us can get to the weight we want to and stay there. I know you have a longer way to go than some people but i can tell that this is it for you and that you are so looking forward to reaching the end of your journey. 60 pounds is an amazing achievment. Well done! I look forward to hearing more about your progress. Talk to you soon. Jeanette x

I read Marisa's bok earlier this year and haven't eaten any dairy since but still eat small amounts of wheat. Maybe now would be a good time to stop that as well? I am interested to hear that a couple of your are drinking goat's milk as I was wondering if that was OK....hopefully yes!
Please let me know.

Anonymous said...

Hi

I am drinking goat's milk and eating the cheese and yoghurt - very yummy and creamy. I asked Marisa at the seminar if this was an OK substitute for cow's milk and she said yes. If you look on the web you can find sites which give a comparison between the two. You can also find information which backs up what Marisa says about the way the cow are treated, the conditions they are kept in etc etc. I get St Helens Farm products because I have checked this out and the goats all roam free, are kept in good conditions and are hand milked.
Hope this helps

ps sorry about posting the same comment twice before - not that good with this technology stuff and didn't realise it worked the first time!!

Like Jeanette I saw Marisa on supersize v superskinny and was immediately interested in this technique of helping to reduce weight. I have always had weight issues and even though my diet was (what I thought) fairly healthy my weight was increasing and affecting my confidence. I found Marisa's website and having read the book I had a private session few weeks ago which helped me to understand my relationship with food. The book is just an eye opener and I found it fascinating and very informative and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. After seeing Marisa I started to question what I was eating and now the thought of eating dairy products is totally repugnant to me. In the past whenever I started a new diet at the back of my mind was always the thought that I was depriving myself and for that reason any diet I was on only worked for a while since my old eating habits would come back. Since I changed my eating habits I feel better and I am loosing weight without effort, but then I don't regard it as a diet but a way of eating good tasty food.
Thank you Marisa without your help I would be depressed and fat..

For those of you looking for a good diary alternative try Rice milk or Almond milk. It sounds terrible but it is not at all. The Hazlenut/Almond Rice milk mixed with coffee is so good. These products are sold in most health food stores. Marissa, thank you for the advice on the sugar cravings. I think more than them being physical cravings it's more habit than anything else. After a meal I ALWAYS want something sweet! I found this dairy free ice cream at Whole Foods in London called Booja Booja. It is amazing! The problem is it's still very caloric even though it is made up of good fats and low GI sweetners like Agave I fear it keeps me from breaking free of my comfort food patterns. My question is, should my goal be to cut this kind of thing out altogether? Should I just keep listening to my CDs? I may need to come to your next seminar for more support! Thank you again for the blog. It's a great tool for us to help each other.

I was browsing Borders the other day not intending to make any purchase but I was hooked on You Can Be Thin the moment I read the first line.

So I decided to buy the book cuz it was kinda affordable and it comes with a Hypnosiss CD (I never own one before other than a single subliminal CD from Innertalk which so far has not shown any result)

Not knowing what to expect other than it could be be just another diet book and a diet book I so want to buy, I was pleasantly surprised to read every lines emphasizing on willpower and choices and what an eye opener to read the part about Wheat and Dairy.

I really like the book alot because alot of it makes sense. I also didnt expect the book to be newly published. The copy I have is printed 2008. Thought it was published like way way back in the 90s.

I am trying to get my 'bovine' to become a 'feline' but he seems unfazed with what I've told him so far. Dang!

Now I am on my journey to Less Wheat and Dairy Everyday. It's so darn difficult to forego everything totally because even Soy Sauce contained Wheat, Starch. Eek.

Anyway, Marisa, I do have couple of questions.

You mention about calcium. I've purchased a Calcium Dietary Supplement with Vit D. It says each tablet contains Calcium Carbonate 1500mg equiv. to 600mg elemental calcium. Is that enough? Is this type of calcium OK? And sorry if I ask too much but this type calcium - what is it made of? It doesn't have any ingredients in it other than the Nutrition Facts.

Would it be okay to snack on bananas instead of having just one?

Thanks much,
Luna, Kuala Lumpur

My Mum and I attended Marisa's seminar this month and found it so very informative and interesting. Marisa has certainly changed our lives for the better. I read the book and then bought it for my Mum and we lost a stone each very quickly without even trying. We then decided to attend the seminar and it certaiinly opened our eyes. Thank you Marisa for being so informative and knowledgeable. You are an inspiration!

It was great to meet all the other attendees too and I love reading their comments as they too are very inspiring. Go girls!

Hi Marisa and everyone on this blog. What a great response, it seems that you have made a brilliant, positive impact on everyone who has read your book or attended your seminars. I thought I would give you an update on my own progress since attending your seminar in London. I have now shed 1st 4lbs since giving up wheat and dairy and increasing my exercise in preparation for my Cuba Charity Cycle challenge. I am so pleased to have dropped a dress size and look forward to being able to wear some lycra cycling shorts without embarrassment (padded ones of course). Keep up the good work everyone and thank you so much Marisa for your continued support and encouragement on this site. I will continue to use this site to update you on my progress. Val Colley

Hi all!! Sorry I have not been around for a while, I have had no access to the net since last Wed!! And to make matters worse, someone has 'borrowed' my book without asking so I have now had to order another copy. I am so annoyed. I feel like I am right back at the beginning, another set back you know. I don't have the confidence you do as I haven't read the book yet. I just hope it arrives ASAP! I'm going to spend the next little while reading up all your posts. Whilst I'm here, does anyone have any healthy vegetarian meal recipes? I don't eat meat or fish or eggs......

From what I have read so far, this site just makes me feel more and more motivated...Thanks all.

I have just started with the rice milk as recommended by Marisa and I like it, much more than the soya milk which has too strong a flavour for me. I had a mug of rice milk last night, hot with cinnamon sprinkled on and it felt really indulgent!! I am still in awe andsheer of how well I am doing on this eating plan. I look and feel so much better, not only with the weight loss of over 60 lbs now, but with absolutely no bloating, belching, wind, nausea, heartburn, indigestion etc. etc. Not only that but as a type 2 insulin dependant diabetic, my insulin usage is down from 40 units a day to 20 units and my blood sugars are staying low, so with continued shedding of this weight it will continue to reduce until I firmly expect to be off insulin very soon. I have never felt so well for a lon, long time andfriends and work colleagues are commetning and telling me how much better I look and asking me if they can have some of what I am on!! I am spreading the gospel according to Marisa and several people have now got the book and cd on my recommendations. I have been overweightfor all of my 56 years and do you know what??? I am getting rid of it once and for all..thanks to Marisa, I WILL BE THIN!

Hi all

Just wanted to say I completed the half marathon Moonwalk on Sat night/Sun morning - wonderful, wonderful experience. I am so pleased that I managed to shed a stone in the two months before the walk as I completed most of it in just my highly decorated bra and my joggers (sheer cold forced me to put my jacket on for some of it). It's a very liberating experience walking the streets of London in your bra. By the way for anyone who hasn't heard of it the Moonwalk is in aid of breast cancer hence the bra!

Thanks Marisa - don't know how I would have felt doing it before the weight reduction. Here's to the next stone.

Help!!!
I am finding that I do not get to the end of the cd without having fallen asleep.
This has only juist started to happen and I am a little worried that the advice will not be going in.
Does anyone else have this happen?Anyone have any suggestions what to do?
Will I still take on board advice and retain it?
Thankyou in advance.

Jeanette said...

hi Tinayvette. I have listened to Marisa's CD around 30 times and not once have i heard it all! I usually manage to hear about two thirds of it and the last bit is very hazy. You dont have to stay awake because it still all goes in. I have dropped 13 pounds since listening to it and reading the book and i know that it definately works. I listened to it the other day whilst being fully concious and heard the whole lot. I realised that it had all gone in subconciously when listening because i was aware of "knowing" all of it without "hearing" all of it. I also think that being in a semi concious state helps it go into that deeper part of the brain where we store it for ever. I am loving people noticing that i have lost weight. And my friend at work this morning called me a bitch because she said i looked so slim!!!!! Been a long time since i heard that! I WILL lose another stone and I WILL keep it off this time and i know that it is because of Marisa's advice and help. Jeanette x

tinayvette said...

Thanks Jeanette.
Its strange how we remember what has been suggested to us while semi awake.
I intend to read the book again as I think it will help convince me that I should be following things more closely.
I do not have milk, yoghurts etc. but I do still use butter, its one of the hardest things for me to give up.
I don't have bread very often now, only occasionally will I have crumpets.
Since reading the book and listening to the cd I have tried (I like to test myself) chocolate, cheese, ice cream and pastry. Chocolate no longer tastes as good and I do not get cravings for it. Pastry is only when my Mum serves her wonderful meat pie. But cheese and ice cream have made me feel ill so they will no longer feature in my diet.
I have only managed to reduce my weight by 4lbs in 2 weeks but that is better than gaining.
You looked fantastic at the seminar, you impressed me greatly.
Its is lovely to take compliments no matter how 'back handed' they seem.
Good luck with the next stone, we can do it, we are on the way now.
Marissa is the 'Pied Piper' of unwanted pounds.

Hi Tinayvette
switch to goats butter I promise you its hard to tell the difference goats butter tates just like like cows butter (but without all the growth hormones)so it is better for you. My family have never been able to tell the difference. I buy goats butter in Waitrose or Sainsburys you can get it in health food shops too. 4lb in 2 weeks is a great amount to reduce by so well done

Marisa, I wonder whether you could please advise me on vitamins/supplements.

I currently take a Berrocca tablet in the morning and a Well Woman tablet in the evening.

At your seminar I noted down 5HTP, B-Complex and Agnes Costas. Is it advisable to take these along with the supplements I mentioned above or instead of?

I do not necessarily take Berrocca or Well Woman tablets for anything in particular but feel it is good to get some form of vitamins.

I would be most grateful to receive your comments.

Kindest Regards

Dominique

Marisa Peer said...

Hi Dominique
You can safely take the 5htp and the agnus costus along with your other vitamins just check the Berrocca and Well Woman vitimins dont already contain the RDA of B complex

To Jee
use quinoa in lots of recipes instead of rice pasta or potatoes it a seed full of protein and is very versatile. Del Ugo make a fabulous pasta from chick peas and chick peas are from seeds so an excellent choice.

To Luna_kl
you can snack on more than one banana, we share 98% of our DNA with apes and they eat more than one banana a day.
Yes that is enough calcium (calcium carbonate is derived from chalk) you can get calcium from green leafy vegetables and from the bones in fish like sardines and salmon. You can buy soy sauce without wheat in it.

To Finley
Eating something salty at the end of a meal can stop sugar cravings you can also take magnesium to stop sugar cravings. Do continue playing the CD and aim to cut out very sweet foods your body will stop asking for them once you stop eating them
I would love to see you at my next seminar.
love from

Does anybody have some good quinoa recipes? I've just been cooking it with a little lemon juice and garlic.

I'm also struggling with a quick, filling and satisfying meal when I don't have the time or inclination to cook and have already had eggs for breakfast! Any ideas would be much appreciated.

I have just finished Marisa's book and started on the cd for a few days now. For the first time since I started Uni I've been eating like a normal person and I have been trying to change my family's eating habbits too (although my dad says now he has to start liking glue since he's convinced he'll miss bread too much to ever stop eating it)! I still have problems with peanut butter (I can finish the whole bottle in 4 days!)and I just can't stop chewing gum when I'm not eating as I am feeling so stressed out from revision and exams. I am trying hard to visualize myself but half the time I'm not really sure if I'm doing it the right way. Please help! I really want to do this right.
Thanks, Sammy

Ive read the book an listening to the CD for 5 days now, I must admit Im happy with the results, already Ive lost 3lbs and Im feeling really confident about keeping it up.
Im finding it easy to say no to chocolate and other tempting things where as if I was on an ordinary diet Id be craving and miserable because I couldnt have it.

The only problem I have is since Monday Ive had a bad stomach, and felt so tired by the end of the day. I went to bed at 9:30 last night and still couldnt get out of bed at 7am this morning!!

I wasnt sure if anyone else has felt effects like this, it could be my body adjusting to the new healthy lifestyle so Im plodding on.

Hi there,
It's taken me a while to get round to writing on here, with one thing and another but I couldn't leave it another day without saying a little something about Marisa's seminar. I bought Marisa's book from Amazon without really giving it much thought, I've been struggling with my weight for years and just decided to do my usual waste of time read up in the hope that some miracle would hit me in the form of a book. To cut a long story short, I read the book, cried, and went crazy mad to find out more and decided to attend the Cambridge seminar. I had read the whole book by then but the seminar was still very helpful. Especially the bit about pushing my arm down with certain foods. That was amazing and I still can't quite grasp how that worked. I have now 'dropped' a lovely 16lbs and it was effortless and it's all due to the book and the seminar to reinforce it. I have the odd day when I slip off the wagon so to speak but that is only with the odd portion of chips after a rowdy night on the town. I don't miss any of the foods I used to gorge myself on and I haven't touched dairy, wheat/bread etc or a certain type of crisp since the seminar. It was nice to be in the company of so many different women who all had the same problems with food that I had and to be able to chat to the lady sitting next to me (sorry, I forgot your name) was really nice.
I've so far got roughly 5 - 6 people to purchase the book based on the results they have seen with me shrinking before there eyes and my Doctor also has the title written down for any patients of his who are struggling like I did. I honestly didn't ever think I would ever get over this obsession with food but almost without me realising it, things changed. I've been one for fad diets and eating plans in a bid to lose weight in the past and I've always gone back to my bad ways, but for some reason, I really don't want to this time and I find myself turning food down!!!! Who would have thought it. The seminar is really going back over what Marisa says in her book so it is ultra helpful if you haven't read the book before you attend and it's a great reinforcement if you have read it. The excersises and demonstrations made me gag and turned my stomach but in a good way and it really hits home just how much this woman really knows her stuff. I have been asked to lend my book out, but I refuse. My eating habits have changed, but I'm not taking a chance so I read it over and over again if I feel like I might slip, but so far, I haven't. I get the odd craving for stodge when I've been out on the town for a few drinks (which I won't stop doing as I'm a single woman, life is for living after all) but I get rid of those cravings by drinking soya milk in tea and grilling some halloumi cheese with quinoa. It does the job. I am so glad I bought this book and very pleased at how good the seminar was and would definately go again, but this time I would ask more questions rather than keep emailing Marisa (sorry about that petal).
I feel sexy, slim and healthy and it's all down to you girl, words aren't enough. Next seminar, I'm there!!!!

I came across Marissa's book on Amazon and something made me buy it. I already have nearly every other diet book in the world and have yo-yo'ed most of my adult life.
Tis the last diet book I will ever buy! Have been off dairy wheat and sugar for three weeks now except for a night off when away with himself! As I cut into his proffered deep fried Brie (pus) and the lovely yellow Brie (pus) ran out I nearly gagged.... I am soooo over dairy! Marissa you have to come to Dublin as I am converting people daily and we are less than an hour away. When people say to me 'It must be so hard!' I honestly reply 'It's easy' dont ask me why but IT IS EASY. What did you do to me? Im so happy with myself now that I am shedding weight by the bucket load. Thankyou most sincerely X

Friday weigh in and another 3 and a half pounds of unwanted fat gotten rid of!! My husband is eating the same way as I am and has also shed 3 lbs this week and says how much he is enjoying the healthier eating with the herbs and spices to flavour rather than butter and rich sauces. I am still listening to the cd nearly every night and finding this so easy to do/ I have had no cravings for cakes, crisps, biscuits or chocolate at all and I am exercising on my Wii fit regularly. I just cannot believe how this is working for me as I was the person who ate a whole pack of chocolate digestives with a cup of tea...yuk!! All that cattle feed, pus and mucus that I have consumed makes me heave now!! My brother who has also struggled with his weight for the whole of his life is also waiting for his copy of the book and cd to arrive, as he has seen the results with me. My sister got her copy last week and is almost done reading it and ready to move on to the cd.... we are going to be the Fit family and not the Fat family soon, thanks to Marisa!!!

I have just got back from staying with a friend. I hadn't told her I had eliminated certain things from my diet and she had prepared pasta with mushrooms and sauce and apricot tart with cream for pud. I ate the pasta with the sauce was delicious and then I had a small piece of the apricot tart without cream. I enjoyed the pasta, but I must say to my surprise I was fairly indifferent to the tart. I do, however, have proof today of the benefits of not eating wheat - for the first time since reading the book I am bloated and uncomfortable today. It has to be the wheat as I avoided dairy and only had the sugar that was in the tart. My friend also remarked how much less I eat these days and how much slower I am!

I do so want her to read the book as she is still suffering the after effects of breast cancer (she had a masectomy 5 years ago)and when I saw all the milk, cream and cheese in her fridge I could have cried. Instead I talked about the book, where to purchase it, and the adverse effects of certain things etc. I don't like to preach but I really hope seeing the difference in me and my advice prompts her to doing something.

Now I just have to wait for my tummy to return to its normal size and avoid wheat like the plague.

Hiya all,
I was anon the other day but I set up a Google account as I like looking at this blog, it inspires me!

I don't know about anybody else but I get TERRIBLE after effects if I eat wheat now, and within a very short period of time too. Does anybody else get this?
You girls in England are lucky as there are so many seminars coming up. I hope Marissa comes to Ireland this year. I am already doing really well but would and although I dont own a scales I know I have dropped a dress size in 5 weeks. I would just love to meet Marissa and everybody else at one of the events. They sound great fun!

Best of luck to everyone and I will get back on the weight loss. I was 15st 9lbs at the last check and am going to weigh meself in Boots today!

Im nearly 3 weeks in on the new plan, having no problems with avoiding wheat, dairy Ive cut down and use rice milk where possible, I still have organic skimmed in my coffee tho... Im working on it.

Im loving eating healthy but still, I have no energy at the gym. I really want to exercise as Ive lost 5lbs but feel the exercise will just push the weight loss that bit further.

Im now wondering if its a lack of Iron in my diet, so Im planning to try add this in (lentils/beans and lean red meat).

Still wondering if anyone else feels this? My legs feel tired after just walking up stairs and before hand I would do a good 1hr cardio at the gym without any problems (just a bit of moaning!!).

My next battle is to tackle my portion sizes, I still pile food on my plate (even if it is only veg) and I dont like leaving much... work in progress though.

I know most people here have been to the seminars but wondered if I still should go to one if Im happily avoiding wheat/dairy and fatty foods? I cant really afford it and Im not sure if it will add much that the book hasnt done for me already.

Its been great to read everyones comments, it would be good if Marisa had a forum where we could all share experiences and support.

thanks,
Lou.

Like others, I have bought the book & CD and its absolutely changed the
way I think and eat about food for the better. So big THANKS to Marisa!

The question I have please is about rice. Is it ok to eat rice and rice based foods as a replacement to wheat?

I have totally cut out wheat, so for breakfast I now eat Rice Krispies with Soya Milk and a chopped banana (no added sugar). I eat a lot of bananas for energy (can be as many as 5-6 per day!), as I do a lot of sport. I also 'graze' on fruits (in between meals) such as grapes, raspberries and blueberries.

As a 'fill-me-up' food I also eat rice cakes (the marmite ones)...no added fat on top, and occasionally eat brown rice instead of potatoes or pasta.

I would value any/all feedback on my current attempt at the foods I'm eating please.

I would to know about the rice thing too. I find for me, fruit and too many carbs in the form of anything (rice, oats, spelt) keep my weight up. I think it is because the increased insulin release, storing most of these calories as fat as a result. I need to avoid anything that creates an insulin release, so keeping to low GI foods, works the best for me. I really struggle with avoiding chocolate and wine, although I have cut down dramatically in the past two weeks. I look forward to going to Marissa's next seminar for some reinforcement!

Dear All/Marisa,

I'm loving my new healthy eating, but was wondering what salad dressing (if any) you are using. I'm enjoying all the food, but have always been a bit of a 'sauce' freak and am finding it hard not having a dressing.

I've bought 'classic french dressing, by the English Provender Co' but have no idea if i should be using it or not??

Also are raisins/dried fruit allowed?

Please help !!

Many thanks

Loving the eating plan, the only thing that i'm struggling slightly with is salad dressings. I've always been a bit of a sauce freak and can't enjoy a salad without some form of dressing. I've been using 'classic french dressing by the English Provender co' but was wondering if this was good/bad??

Also are raisins/dried fruit allowed?

Is there a particular band of 5HTP that you recommend? What is the best dose and at what time of day should they be taken?

I have read so many conflicting views/opinions that am totally confused now.

What is the best cows milk substitute for coffee. Soya milk curdles and the result is vile.

Hi Marisa,

I cant believe u have worked a spell on me !! Im not even slightly interested in bad foods, Ive not listened to the CD for a week now but Im still feeling great and avoiding bad foods. I dont miss them at all !!

Im not losing as much weight as others seem to be, which is frustrating as Im being so good :(

I think I have to address the size of my portions and I just cant seem to leave any food behind on my plate. I try to think "my stomach is the size of my fist" but I clear the plate before Ive realised. Ive pretty much stopped eating between meals which is great :)

Im planning to get back into listening to the CD this week, any tips on how I can concentrate on the amount I eat now? I think I tend to think its healthy so I can have more !

Thanks for your time,
Lou.x

Further to listening to the audio CD I have shed 21 pounds since Feb and am planning on shedding another
21 pounds.
I have not eaten wheat or dairy since February and do not miss them at all.
I am still a bit confused on a few foods and wondered if they would be slowing down the process.

For example, Salted Pop corn, Rye Flour (Ryvita, Finn Crisps), Long Grain Rice, Organic Cashew nuts, Olives???

As I eat out lots I have found it hard to resist Chips and potatoes and feel I should cut down on these.
Is there a way to be put off chips?

Many Thanks
Becca

Dear Tracey
you can make salad dressings from olive oil, balsamic vinegar and honey.
To vary it add mustard and use different oils like sesame oil, chili oil, lemon and garic oils. I also flavour my salads with dill, basil or coriander leaves.
It is much better for you to eat fresh fruit than dried as its high in sugar.
Fresh fruit is much better than dried fruit however dried fruit is much better than chocolate or sweets so have a little but not too much
To ClareW I have just posted some of my favorite recipes and meal plans and plan to add more every week. Hopefully others will add some of their faves too.
I am also putting up a new post on portable foods

Dear Becca
Make your own popcorn by putting popcorn in a brown bag folding it in half and placing in the microwave for 3-4 minutes and then shaking light soy sauce all over it as the pre-made popcorn you buy is full of fat and chemicals
Rye Flour is okay and Ryvita and Finn Crisps are fine in moderation as is Long Grain Rice. Organic Cashew nuts and Olives are fantastic. If you make your own chips from sweet potatoes and oven bake them you can enjoy them once or twice a week.

For the person that asked about milk curdling. After you make your tea or coffee add an inch of cold water to the cup before you pour in the rice milk and it stops it curdling. If it still curdles you can just stir it and it will uncurdle as its not actually curdling its separating, so just stir it back in. It looks odd but unlike curdled milk it still tastes the same.

Hi Marisa
Please help, I seem to be a very slow loser!!! I not eaten wheat or dairy since attending your London seminar in March and despite eating very healthily - as you suggest I only seem to shed a 1/2 or 1 lb per week - 1st 4lb to date. I am doing a lot of excersise every day and now cycling about 100 miles a week (building up for my charity cycle). Could it be muscle weight? What else can I do to help myself shed about 2lb per week? because I need to shift another two stone to make the cyling easier for me.

Just to update you Marisa and those who were at the same seminar as me. Remember I told you my PCT had agreed to fund gastric bypass surgery for meand I was to go for it in July? Well here we are in July...a lot lighter than I was in January!!! I went to see my GP who had referred me for the surgery on Monday to ask him to cancel it and he said 'My goodness, you look as though you have lost a lot of weight.' He then weighed me and said 'You have not lost a lot of weight, you have lost a phenomenal amount of weight!!! Well done, you don't need that operation at all!!' I was 6 stones lighter than I was in January, so I am over the moon with that. I had previously gotten rid of 4 stones by myself but had stuck there for a couple of years, then I got the bible according to Marisa and I was off again, no wheat or dairy in my diet at all now!! I still have another 6 stones to go but I WILL do this now, I am confident of that. Roll on Christmas because I will be stones lighter by then! Thankyou so much for showing me how easy it was to get my life back again Marisa!!

Hi
Can anyone help me? I attended the seminar in London (& read Marisa's book)but despite not eating wheat or dairy & sticking to a healthy eating plan I only seem to drop about 1lb a week. Other people on here seem to drop weight at a faster pace than this. My concern is that I'm doing a charity cyce ride in November -250 miles in 5 days - and need to be as comfortable and fit as I can and am still 3 stone overweight. I have been doing a lot of training and excersise though, could it be the extra muscle I am building?

Anonymous said...

It's still coming off, tho' it has slowed down now. I have shed 21 lbs so far and am hoping to keep going down for a while. Why does everyone have an opinion on this tho? I was told at work last week that I should stay as I am now because when you get to a certain age you need a bit of 'covering'. I must admit I have perfected the smile and nod technique knowing that I am healthy and happy and can make my own decision about it. I am so happy about it all as at the beginning of the year I had given up hope of ever shifting the weight permanently and it coloured my whole life. The thought of summer hols and less clothing filled me with dread; my hol is now 2 weeks away and I can't wait. Now eating is just a normal part of everyday life and I am in control.
I am hoping the same will happen for a friend who started the book today. She is where I was in March and I can't stress enough just how easy the whole process has been.

Can't say thanks enough Marisa.

From Jeanette. - Hi Eileen. You are amazing! and what great news from your Doctor. You must be thrilled. I had shed a total of eighteen pounds. But i hae just come back from a ten day holiday in Spain with friends and found i had gained three pounds. (that is incredible in itself as i usually gain at least seven to eight!)I think it was more to do with all the alcohol rather than food! Very confident that i can get rid of the three that i have gained and i know i will go on to drop another stone. Ros well done on your fantastic 21 pound drop! Isnt it annoying when people feel they have the right to tell you how you should feel in your body. Keep shedding until YOU feel happy. (I am sure some people must be jealous of your success and want to sabotage it). You go girl! And back to Eileen, keep posting your success story sweetie because i love hearing how well you are doing and i am sure everyone else does too. Yes Eileen, I forgot to congratulate you on your amazing success. To be able to now say no to the surgery is just brilliant and to know you can keep it up. The difference for me this time is that there isn't an 'end' like all the diets I have been on. You subconciously know with them that at some point you are going to start re-introducing all the foods you have been denying yourself. This healthy eating is for life.

Thanks for all the nice comments, I am still getting thinner, although obviously it is going to be a long journey for me. It took me 56 years to get as fat as I was and 7 months since reading Marisa's book, here I am almost 7 stone lighter!! I have gone down from size 32 with elasticated waists and buttons left open to size 20 top and 22 bottoms now, and although that is still huge for some of you, it is so much better for me. I can't wait to get into clothes which are in the teens, and not the twenties!!! I still haven't touched any form of wheat or dairy and still listen to Marisa's CD every couple of nights and read the book over again just to keep me focussed. I have ordered a lovely black trouser suit in an 18 and I am hoping to bein that by the time we start back at school in September, so keep your fingers crossed for me!

Anonymous said...

hi marisa and everyone else, just a quick question about weighing, I have an obsession with weighing myself every day which I know is a bit mad! do you think its best to bin the scales and just go by clothes and how I feel?
thanks

Anonymous said...

I have that same problem. I think the main thing is not so much the weighing and how often, more how you let it make you feel depending on the result. With this healthy eating you will probably only feel brill 'cos the scales keep showing less. The thing to remember is that other factors affect what you weigh from day to day so you shouldn't really let it influence your mood. I'm sure the best thing is to let your clothes tell the story and I am really working towards that now.

On a different note I am off on holiday tomorrow (yay!) so it will be a tester for me. In my old dieting life I used to see holidays as a reprieve from all the denial and would start letting myself go a few days before, eat as much as poss while away knowing that the restrictions would start again on my return home or very soon after. Not so this time, I am relaxed about it all atm, just hope I'm no lured back. I think I will be OK on the dairy front, but feel I might relapse a bit with the wheat and/or sugar. We'll see. Will report again when I get back

Ros

Anonymous said...

Back from my hols now. Well it was a mixed bag really. I certainly didn't stick stringently to my restrictions as I really wanted to try different things - plus the options for vegetarians seemed to be mainly pasta! Although I allowed myself some sugar and more wheat than I should I still found it easy to restrict dairy. The main thing I found was my control of portion sizes - unlike in the past when I tended to pile on the food as it was a reprieve from the never ending diet cycle - this time I ate enough to satisfy me and enjoyed the different flavours etc, but never felt uncomfortable or 'overstuffed'. I kept up my exercise level and have found to my delight that my weight is pretty much the same as when I left. This is a huge step for me and has really removed my fear of holidays and Christmas etc which were always times that had to be followed by strict dieting.

I will now be re-reading the book and listening to the CD and look forward to shedding some more.

Feel on top of the world.

Ros :-)

Hi Marisa I would be very grateful if you could pass on some tips on how to avoid/cut down on wine? I really enjoy a glass or two in the evenings and this is obviously hindering my weight loss and then lowers my inhibitions. I found the facts on wheat and dairy make it easy to avoid those but need soemthing to help me not want sweet things and alcohol which I am still struggling with.

Hi Marisa and everyone who is following Marisa's programme.

I have struggled with my weight since I was a teenager and it would not ne overstating the case to say that Marisa's methods have changed my life. As well as shedding weight I can really feel the other effects of not eating pus, glue, animal hormones, pesticides and chemicals - my skin is clear, no mid-afternoon and post-prandial energy slumps, no abdomianl bloating, no indigestion, the list goes on and on! It's amazing that I punished my body for so many years for a fleeting moment of satisfaction form eating junk food. Never again!

I'd be really grateful Marisa if you could answer a question that I have about tap Vs bottled water. I know tap water can contain pesticides that have entered the water supply from the rain-evaporation cycle and can also contain high levels of estrogen (originating from women on the oral contraceptive pill) - I have heard of one fertility specialist advising men with low sperm counts not to drink tap water for this reason although this may just be anecdotal. I would really value your opinion on this Marisa, should we be drinking bottled/mineral water rather than tap water?

I cannot thank you enough for the amazing, literally life-altering changes you have faciliated.

Very best to you all,

B x

Hi Marisa

Thank you so much for your kind donation, it is much appreciated.

Just to give you an update I am now 24 lbs lighter since attending your seminar. I am very fit and clocking up 130 miles a week cycling around the countryside. I also do 2 body pump classes, 2 visits to the gym and 2 spin classes a week and have reduced by a total of 18" from my waist, bust and hips - and I love it. Oh, and I am no longer suffering from asthma.

I still have a way to go but am confident I will make it by the time I get to Cuba. I'll be able to cycle that 250 miles without a problem and am not far of my target of raising 6000 pounds for a worthwhile charity.

Next weekend I have a training weekend in the Cotswolds where I'll cycle 40 miles on Saturday and 40 again on Sunday - bring it on!!!

Thank you again - and for motivating me to get through this challenge.

I no longer buy bottled water because the plastic it is contained in can also leach chemicals into the water. The best thing is to buy a very good water filter to filter out the impurities in tap water. the best kind are the ones you have fitted under the sink but even the cartridge and jug water filters do a good job

Hi Marisa
I was at your seminar on Saturday and really enjoyed it, I had read your book and had started listening to your CD so had given up milk and cheese recently (they turn my stomach now when I think of the pus cells!) My children are 5 + 8 so they have organic cows milk. I am 4 stone overweight but I feel reaaly positive this is the life change that will get me to my ideal weight and keep me there (having got there many times but have not been able to stay there sadly!)
I have a very stressfull job as a lung cancer nurse in a busy hospital and find it hard to have a proper lunch break but with the help of portable food and telling myself i can do a better job if I am nourished and rested. I think I can overcome this. Usually when I have a tough time I "care for myself" with diet coke and chocolate and I now realise how stupid it is to give my body crap when it is struggling. I feel now that I deserve to eat properly and I don't want chemicals and addictive food in me anymore so this is a huge exciting revelation-thank you!
I feel like the determination and ability I have in every other aspect of my life (I did a half marathon last week and I'm doing a masters dissertation), will now cross over into eating well and becoming healthier.
I did drink a lot of diet coke and had sweetners in my food + drinks so I think my serotinin levels are low so an hoping to correct this by eating turkey, coriander etc. You mentioned taking milled flaxseed 3 spoons a day for 6 weeks and skinbrushing including lymph gland areas (groin, armpits etc). after the 6 weeks do you take a daily dose?
thanks a lot
Michelle

Marisa Peer said...

Dear Michelle
Once you have taken flax seeds daily for 6 weeks you can reduce the amount to 1 dessertspoon every other day or 2 dessertspoons two or three times a week
I have just put up a new post on diet coke alternatives and am about to put up a second on portable menus for lunches on the go

Hi everyone, just had to leave a comment. I bought the book a week ago and read it immediately. In 7 days I have dropped 4 pounds and that is without even exercising!

I am eating the best I have ever eaten and never feel on a 'diet' I am only 24 and have half a stone to shed but in the past I've only achieved this by silly 'fad' diets. (3 day diet, 7 day, soup-you name it and I've done it!) I was starting to feel so trapped in this cycle. Everyday waking thinking-which diet do I follow today to get rid of the weight to fit in my clothes at the weekend? Then thinking I was 'healthy' eating cereal and skimmed milk, brown bread and jacket potatoes and certain ready meals. YUCK!

I now actually enjoy fresh natural foods and have surprised myself by enjoying the soy milk and yoghurts. I have 2 sqaures of dark chocolate if I need something sweet and rice cakes if I fancy something 'carby' with my soup at lunch. Other than that I honestly feel like this is how I should eat and it feels amazing eating so selectively. I feel happy and satisfied.

I went out for a meal and didn't flutter an eyelid at the bread, potato skins or chocolate fudge cake with ice cream that my boyfriend put away! My prawns in chilli were amazing-aswell as me fitting back into my size 8 jeans which outshone all the junk!

Only wish I knew this way earlier, it would have saved my poor body from going through years of stupid diets, slimming pills and even a phase of a silly eating disorder (of which I'm not proud)

However, I must confess that I slipped up once and had a slice of white tiger bread followed by a treat size chocolate bar. I was ill afterwards! Felt sickly, swollen and bloated. Taught me a very good lesson and I'm glad I did slip up as the link of pain to those foods is even stronger now! haha.

Thank You Marisa. You have saved my body a lot of uneccessary stress and junk! xx

Hello... I am having to post anonymously as the Google blogger won't let me in for some reason but it's Eileen here! Just a quick update! I am now 120lbs lighter than I was last Boxing Day when I started to follow Marisa's plan. Down from size 32 to 18, off insulin and off tablets for diabetes and off my High blood pressure medication. Eczema is almost gone now from being very nasty, inflamed and itchy. Arthritis will never go away but I am much more mobile. Doctors are thrilled with my progress. Thanks for showing me how to do this after being a chubby child, a fat teenager, an obese young mum then a morbidly obese older woman! I now weigh less at 56 years old than I did at 15 years old... I feel as though my life is just beginning! Thanks Marisa!

I fell of the plan a little but really want to get back into it, I lost 1/2 a stone and have only gained a few pounds since.

I was wondering if I needed to read the book again or if just listening to the CD would kick start my eating habits? What do you suggest Marisa? Or has anyone else stopped and started who has advice for me?

Dear anonymous I would recommend reading the book again or at least reading the chapters that are most relevant to you as well as listening to the cd every day as it will get you back on track. Dont give up remember true success is not never failing- its how quickly you get back on track again.
Dear Eileen it must be amazing to weigh less than you weighed at 15 you are an inspiration to everyone and I am so very proud of you

Marisa, I first read your book a year ago and found it so easy; I felt so happy and free of food for the first time since I was 5. I did really well, dropping a stone in a few months. However for various reasons I fell "off the wagon" and started putting weight back on and I now weigh the heaviest I've ever been - two stone more than this time last year. I've just moved for a new job and am away from my friends and family. I am also stuck in a relationship I don't want to be in but don't have the strength to end as I'm afraid of being lonely. My boyfriend unfortunately followed me in my move and says I'm beautiful and that he loves me and supports me dropping weight but then brings chocolate and pizza and tries to force feed me one minute then criticises me for giving in the next. My skinny family are always criticising my weight and commenting on what I eat but cause a fuss when I start turning food down. I can't afford to attend another one of your brilliant seminars and have tried reading the book and listening to the cd again several times but can't shake the thought that as I failed last time I will never succeed, which automatically makes me fail. I'm so miserable and disappointed in myself and am beginning to think I will always be fat. What can I do to make your methods work for me again and get back on track? Please help.

I have recently bought Marissa's book. I am not overweight but do have eating issues. I am an avid calorie counter and an overly keen runner. My question is whether or not as a runner it is ok to eat oats for breakfast every day, as if I don't I don't have the energy to run. I run 6 times per week and they vary between 10 and 6 miles each. Cheers, Ann

Dear Ann
It is fine for you to eat oats every day as real oats are an excellent food especially since you are running and need the fuel for energy.
