Hi Jen Unfortunately it is harder for vegetarians to do this but still possible. When we eat protein we burn fat and when we eat carbs we store fat, as carbs are by nature very starchy and starch turns to sugar very quickly, this raises our insulin levels and one of the roles of insulin is to store fat. So the trick for a vegetarian is to eat foods that are not starchy by avoiding wheat products such as bread, pasta, noodles, pastry etc and other starchy foods like potatoes. You can eat Orgran and Del Ugo pasta as its made from okra or chick peas. Use egg noodles and a lot of soya products like tofu and endemame(soya peas) they are a great protein for vegetarians. You can eat goat and sheeps products as they have much less sugar than dairy. Quinoa is a great product for you as it's like pasta but it's a seed(protein) not a grain (starch). Always look for products that are seed based not grain based when you can. Quorn is quite good too and nut based products. When you do eat grains go for the sprouting variety as they are lower in sugar and eat as many eggs as you like. I eat loads every week and have low cholesterol and fantastic health As a veggie you will only get vitamin D & E from eggs. I hope that helps you I am in the process of writing a fat burning veggie alternative menu and will be posting it here in the next few weeks. very best Marisa x
Thanks Marisa, this is most helpful. I'm intolerant to soy and not keen on any kind of milk (the worst person to be a vegetarian!), so it's lots of eggs, quinoa, nuts and quorn for me.
Dear Marisa, Thank you so much for this very helpful video. I learned so much and it's going to make a difference. I had no idea that isolating foods into protein and carbs could be so effective in burning fat. I'm already following your advice. It's so simple but not until you know it and have it explained so clearly and simply! Thank you again for such an amazing video. Will there be more? Jane
It is amazing that more people don't know that if you isolate carbs, even just after lunch, you will effectively burn fat without having to count calories at all. I made the video because I want everyone to have this infotmation so please tell all your frinds to watch it either here or on You Tube. I am putting up another one tonight. Thank you for your lovely comment Best Marisa
Hi Marissa, I too found the video very helpful. Although I have read your book and understood the contents, this video has simplified it further. So thank you. Are sweet potatoes OK to eat in the evening. I love these as they are really filling and compliment lots of dishes. Also are parsnips too starchy after lunch? Many thanks

hi there, i love your video-posts on the blog! what about whey protein and protein bars? do these help burn fat? are they OK to eat? i sometimes have these for lunch replacement. thanks! cbteco x
Hi Elaine Parsnips and sweet potatoes are not too starchy just make sure you eat them with a protein like lean fish and chicken rather than carbs like baked beans. If you want to drop weight easily it is still better to have a dinner of protein and green vegetables only, but you must have a lot, if you take out the potatoe without upping the chicken you will feel hungry. Once you are at your ideal weight you can stay there by always adding protein to carbs its great to use parsnips and carrots as a sheperds pie topping and baked or roasted sweet potaotoes are lovely. I also make mash out of cauliflower which is lovely I have just put up the technique for you. Roasted jeruslaem artichokes taste like potaotes but are much less starchy. I hope this helps you, Very Best Marisax
Whey protein and protein bars are okay but there are so many varieties and some of them are full of sugar and additives. Read the label to make sure they are made of pure protein like nuts and seeds. If you want to burn fat remember that your body will use protein and good fats as they are building foods but it will store carbs unless you burn them off with lots of energy. You cant gain weight if you have not eaten carbs and you cant lose weight if you have just eaten carbs. They are okay for a lunch replacement but a soya yoghurt or shake with nuts and seeds is way better. Hope that helps you, very best Marisa
what about foods like oat meal and wheatabix? do they make you gain weight?
So what are good sources of carbohydrates then? coz im sure the body needs energy from carbohydrates inorder to function well? i cant very eliminate all carbohydrates?
Hi Anon Oat meal is fine, weetabix is not great oatabix is better, wheat is so processed and refined it pushes up your blood sugar levels and makes you store fat. Good sources of carbohydrates are all vegetables salads and fruit (but not too much fruit.) The body does need energy from carbohydrates if you are doing a lot of exercise but if you eat carbs a lot and dont do strenous exercise you wont burn them off.
Its a complete misconception that we need refined carbs for energy until mills were invented no one ate pasta, bread, cereal or pastry and they functioned very well without them. The human body has NO dietary reqirement at all for grains or cereals, after all the Zulus and Masai lived without them. You cannot lose weight once you have eaten carbs and you cannot gain weight if you have not eaten carbs. Of course you dont have to give them up but recognise that they are a major factor in weight gain. It's really hard to eliminate all carbs and I would not expct you to, but cut out all the refined processed carbs and cut carbs out after lunch and you will get and stay slim with ease. Hopethat helps you Marisa x

Hi Marisa,
Are there any foods other than eggs that vegetarians can eat for fat burning? Or do they all have too much carb content?
Thanks!
Jen
